the connection between sleeping and death?

I think the connection between death and sleep is the nothingness you experience. I've grown up in a Christian home, and i've been taught that death is just a a very long, deep, and dreamless sleep until the second coming of Christ. Once he has come back, we will wake up and live a new life with him.  In my opinion, I have always just seen sleep as being dead for a short time. A place or state of mind where nothing affects you or it's like a way to avoid life and all the problems you have. There are just no worries...except when you have those dreams nibbling on your conscience.

  1. I never thought of it as a long sleep always thought of it as a trasition to something greater. Way cool post!

  2. I like the way you phrased that.
For me it's not so much death that itself is unsettling, I mean once you're dead your dead, but the actual process of dying is what unnerves me.
How nice it would be to just go to sleep one night and not wake up. But then you think of the people who have terminal illnesses and know how they are going to die, and relatively when, or those who are in an accident and die slowly and painfully.
